The Capital City Planning Framework provides a sound basis for policy making that leverages the social and economic capital of Inner Metropolitan Perth.
Although strong in its contextual analysis and understanding of the drivers of urban change, our consultation has uncovered important challenges. These need to be addressed for the overall plan to be fully realized. These concerns include:
- Adopting a whole of government approach that recognises the role of all State Government Agencies in the success of our built environment.
-
Develop strategies to translate regional vision into successful local outcomes
-
Prioritisation schedule for infrastructure investment and clear timeframes that link the plan more robustly with Infrastructure Australia funding.
-
Establish metrics and targets to define measureable outcomes.
-
Performance audits conducted annually to report on the delivery of this vision.
-
Develop strategies for dealing with urban governance ‘growing pains’
The Property Council looks forward to further discussions on the issues outlined in this submission with a view to assisting in realising property and development outcomes that will deliver the Framework’s vision.
