The Property Council of Australia, Victoria Division, welcomes the opportunity to make a submission to the review of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006.
We refer to the Discussion Paper released by the Hon. Jeanette Powell, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and have responded to the key issues for discussion. We also note that the Property Council met with Petra Stock of DPCD on 20 October 2011 to discuss the issues raised in the Discussion Paper.
The Property Council’s Victorian Planning & Infrastructure and Residential Developers Committees have provided input into the attached submission based on their direct experiences with the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and its requirements.
