The Property Council of Australia has welcomed the confirmation of Sunday trading in Bunbury, by the Minister for Consumer Protection Troy Buswell.
“With Bunbury open for trading on Sunday busy working families are the winners, with greater choice and convenience,” said Mr Joe Lenzo, Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia (WA).
“Bunbury retailers now able to compete fairly with Australind and Eaton who up until now have enjoyed a competition free day of trade.
“This decision will encourage more retail development in Bunbury,” said Mr. Lenzo
“However, Sunday trading in Bunbury will further isolate Perth’s retail sector. Perth is the only major urban centre in Australia that has anticompetitive trading hours on Sunday and week-nights.
“In tough economic times is doubly important that retailers and consumers are given every opportunity to get on with business, particularly on the week-end and in the evening, said Mr Lenzo.”
