Council elections for the City of Melbourne will be held by postal ballot in late October 2012. To be eligible to vote, voters must be on the City of Melbourne voter’s roll by 4pm on Friday 31 August.

Owners and occupiers of non-residential rateable property (solely or jointly) in the City of Melbourne are entitled without application to be enrolled on the City of Melbourne’s voters' roll.

Owners and occupiers of residential rateable property who are not registered on the Victorian State Electoral Roll must re-enrol every election with the City of Melbourne.

Residents who are enrolled on the Victorian State Electoral Roll are automatically enrolled for Council elections.

Ballots will be distributed in early October and voting will close at 6pm on 26 October. All eligible members are encouraged to register.
