Nominations to the Melbourne Metro project’s Community Reference Group are now being accepted by the Victorian Government following an announcement by the Minister for Public Transport, the Hon. Terry Mulder.
A key Victorian Government infrastructure priority, Melbourne Metro will be a nine-kilometre rail tunnel between South Kensington and South Yarra via the Melbourne CBD. While bypassing the existing inner city tracks and stations, the tunnel will provide extra services to the growth corridors in Melbourne’s west, north and south east. The tunnel will encompass five new underground stations at Arden, Parkville, CBD North (Melbourne Central), CBD South (Flinders Street) and Domain.
To ensure that community input and participation forms part of the tunnel’s development, the Community Reference Group will comprise of representatives from the local community, key land users and local government. The Melbourne Metro project team will also consult landowners, rail passengers and key stakeholders.
