The Property Council of Australia, which represents over 2,000 member companies throughout Australia, who control more than $300 billion in property assets nationally, has today signed up for Earth Hour.
Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia’s Victorian Division, Jennifer Cunich, also encouraged members of the Property Council to take part in this event which occurs on the 29th of March 2008 at 8pm.
Ms Jennifer Cunich said “By encouraging our members to sign up for Earth Hour it will further increase awareness of energy usage and sustainability across Australia”.
“There is a common misconception that the property sector isn’t interested in tackling climate change”.
Yet from the projects and policy development our members have been involved with the evidence overwhelmingly shows that the property sector is serious and passionate about building a long term sustainable sector”.
“Many of our members are involved in sustainable development at a commercial level, for example the Kador Group which in 2007 was awarded the six star efficiency rating for its refurbishment of 500 Collins Street”.
“With such a wide and diverse membership of property owners and managers it is fitting that the Property Council and its members should sign up for an event such as Earth Hour to raise awareness even further”.
The Property Council has emailed all members to sign up for Earth Hour in its weekly bulletin State of Play.
