Greening the built environment is a key issue for the Tasmanian Division and the Property Council has been involved in extensive discussions with the Climate Change Office and the Minister assisting the Premier on Climate Change, Lisa Singh about incentives and programs that can assist the property sector deal with climate change.
As part of our advocacy agenda, the Property Council held on Thursday 27 August a private briefing to Parliament on Greening Tasmania through the Built Environment.
The co hosts for the event were Minister Assisting the Premier on Climate Change, Lisa Singh MP, Will Hodgman MP, Liberal Opposition Leader and spokesperson on Climate Change and Nick McKim MP, Green Opposition Leader and spokesperson on climate change.
The briefing was an outstanding success with representation from all three parties, the Legislative Council and key departments such as Treasury, Environment, Economic Development and Tourism, Health and Human Services and Premier and Cabinet.
It was an excellent opportunity to improve the understanding of the built environment and the opportunities it provides to assist in climate change.
Thanks must go to GHD, Xsquared Architects for being our business partners for the event and to the speakers, Keith Drew, Xsquared Architects, Luc Plowman, GHD and Greg Cooper, Department of Health and Human Services.
