The Land Use Planning and Approvals Amendment (State and Regional Strategies) Bill 2009 has passed the Legislative Council and will go back down to the Lower House at the end of this month.

The Property Council provided an extensive briefing to the Legislative Council on Wednesday 2 September.

It was a fruitful exercise giving the Division the opportunity to address Legislative Councillor's concerns as well as impress upon them the need for the development assessment reform.

As most of you know, the Property Council has provided a number of submissions on this bill as well as working hard with the Government to ensure the best model for Development Assessment Panels (DAPs) for Regionally Significant Projects is reflected in the bill and implemented.

There is no doubt that the Tasmanian planning system needs development assessment reform and the DAPs are a good first step.
