The Property Council has forwarded to the State Government its submission on the draft 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide.

The Property Council has for many years advocated the need to develop a spatial plan for Adelaide’s future growth. The rationale for the need to develop a plan is a result of:

- significant forecast population growth;

- environmental and water pressures;

- ongoing supply issues around residential and employment lands; and

- the need to provide certainty to developers and the community.

Within this context, the Property Council is extremely pleased with the draft 30-Year Plan. While we will respond to each draft policy and target in our Technical Working Paper, the broad objectives and goals of this Plan are important and, in the main, appropriately addressed.

As the State moves forward with a growing economy, a growing population and increased pressure from environmental sustainability issues, this plan provides a clear signal to the community about where Adelaide will grow in the years to come and how this growth will be achieved.

The submission is strongly supportive of the Plan but makes recommendations around its implementation and proposed governance models.
