The Property Council of Australia (ACT) has today welcomed the announcement from the ACT Planning and Land Authority that it has been successful in its application for Commonwealth funding to cut red tape and support service improvements.
The Authority has been awarded $2,409,600 from AusIndustry’s Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund (RRIF) to build on existing business infrastructure to generate regulatory compliance reductions to the land development and building small business sector operating in the ACT.
The Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia (ACT), Catherine Carter, said that the Property Council had been pleased to support the Authority’s submission to the RRIF.
“The Property Council supports improved efficiencies within the Authority and across all government departments and agencies,” Ms Carter said.
“The announcement that RRIF funding will allow the Authority to offer customers online access to a range of previously paper based, manual business processes, including Development Applications and Building Applications is very welcome.
“Property Council members represent small and large businesses that deal directly with ACTPLA. The measures and potential savings provided through a reduction in red tape and layers of administrative process, which should reduce delays and improvement development approval times, should be significant.
“The Property Council now looks forward to the implementation of these improved services,” Ms Carter said.
