The Property Council recently made a submission to the EPA on the Waste Derived Fill Specification 2012 Consultation Draft.
Whilst the Property Council is supportive of reasonable measures to minimise potential health impacts from contaminated sites, the proposed changes to definitions and testing requirements have the potential to significantly increase costs associated with the use and disposal of fill from construction sites. Following concerns raised by groups from across the industry, the EPA has extended the consultation period and delayed the implementation of the Specification. Please note that until otherwise stated, the 2010 policy criteria for waste derived fill will remain in force.
