South Australia has a proud record of pursuing sustainability in the built environment. We boast some of the largest and highest-rated Green Star buildings in the nation, our Building Innovation Fund has lead the charge for further improvements in environmental performance, and the Property Council was one of the first industry bodies to sign a Sector Agreement under the State’s nation-leading climate change legislation.
However, given that buildings account for up to one quarter of a city’s carbon emissions, much more can be done. Government support is thus crucial in these worthy pursuits.
