Queensland Premier Campbell Newman announced a plan to renew the Government Administrative Precinct in the Brisbane CBD.

The plan includes the redevelopment of sites in George and William Streets for mixed-use functionality, while protecting heritage buildings in the zone.

Newman says the Government will underpin the redevelopment by remaining a major precinct tenant.

The Government is calling for registrations of interest for the construction of a new office tower, up to 60, 000 sqm, at 1 William Street for stage one of the redevelopment.

It will also seek expressions of interest for redevelopment of 80, 100 and 102 George Street, providing up to an additional 60,000 sqm of office space.

The Administrative Precinct spans from Queen Street to the Botanic Gardens, and from the Brisbane River to Albert Street.
