The Property Council has finalised our submission to the Queensland Government on the Queensland Regionalisation Strategy (QRS) and the Queensland Infrastructure Plan (QIP).

Released as a suite of documents, along with the Bruce Highway Upgrade Strategy and the Townsville Futures Plan, QRS and QIP are the Queensland Government’s latest plans for managing the State’s projected population growth and infrastructure needs.

Our submission focuses on:

  • Support for the intent of both plans, but have concerns regarding the lack of scope, detail and clarity
  • Four year strategy underpinning the QIP is not long enough to adequately drive long-term infrastructure planning and investment
  • Both fail to provide sufficient detail in relation to project pipelines and proposed actions
  • Hierarchy of the plans is not aligned with other State Planning Instruments
  • Lack of transparency regarding project ownership, funding and completion likelihood
