The up-coming Lord Mayoral elections in the City of Perth coincide with the biggest development program in the City in decades.

There is heightened interest in these elections and the property sector will quiz each Lord Mayoral contender at the Property Council’s next members’ lunch on Friday 21 September 2007.

Property Council of Australia (WA) Executive Director, Joe Lenzo said the new Lord Mayor will lead the City in decisions about issues and projects that will define the form of the city centre for the 21st century.

“The Mounts Bay project, Northbridge Link, expansion of the residential developments, the CBD parking crisis, new office developments, retail trading hours and security will be priority issues for the new Lord Mayor.

“Each mayoral contender will be quizzed on their policies to successfully resolve the inevitable challenges posed by the enormous development program for the City.

“The property sector is looking for strong leadership to guide the exciting developments in the City.

“We have spent a long time planning and discussing the future of Perth City, however now is the time for development action.

“The lunch will provide an opportunity for businesses in the property sector to decide which candidate has the best credentials and ability to deliver the outcomes our city needs”, said Mr Lenzo.
