The third breakfast in the Property Council’s new Mining + Property series ‘Housing the Boom’ took place on Tuesday, August 7, at the Stamford Plaza in Brisbane.
Over 200 professionals from the property and resources sectors attended the event to hear first-hand the difficulties associated with accommodating the bourgeoning resources sector.
Our panel brought together Cr Gail Sellers, Mayor of Gladstone City Council, Adrian Pisarski, Executive Officer – Qshelter and Cameron Mana, General Manager Business Growth – Devine, to discuss the economic and social implications of the resources boom, with a particular focus on housing the significant influx of workers in small mining towns.
The event used Gladstone as a case study and focused on how local government and the private sector are working together to ensure the city reaps the benefits of the population increase and minimises issues within the community.
Thanks must go to our speakers, and especially to Cr Sellers for traveling to Brisbane.
Thank you also to our major sponsor, Peabody and supporting sponsor Thinc. Without the support of our sponsors our Mining + Property series would not be possible.
