Last Friday (28 October) the property industry turned out in force to hear the Hon. Ian Macfarlane MP, Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, outline his vision for the prosperous future of Townsville.

Over a sell-out lunch at the newly renovated Townsville Brewery, the Shadow Minister spoke of the opportunities the mining and resources boom presents for the region.

With a strategically advantageous geographic location, major road, rail and port infrastructure and a diverse local economy, he outlined how Townsville will also provide the knowledge and skills base essential to support the industries of the future.

The luncheon discussion was moderated by Federal Member for Herbert, Ewen Jones MP, who took questions from the floor on issues such as the impact planning for sea level rise is having on the industry, and how Townsville can access greater government funding for much-needed infrastructure upgrades.

Following lunch, guests networked over drinks in Townsville Brewery’s private bar area.

The newly renovated function areas provided an elegant backdrop to the Property Council’s second major event in Townsville this year.

Thank you to our lunch sponsor Peabody Energy and networking drinks sponsor WHK, as without their support, events like this would not be possible.
