Sydney is a significant step closer to having the transport network it needs with the release of detailed plans for the route and stations for the North West Rail Link.
The Property Council of Australia said it had consistently promoted the North West Rail Link as the most important public transport priority for Sydney.
“Sydney is playing catch-up on its transport network, so progress on delivering the North West Rail Link is crucial,” NSW Executive Director Glenn Byres said today.
“The proposed alignment gives the community confidence that the project is one step closer to reality.
“The region has emerged as a thriving home for residents and business, but addition of the rail line will fuel further growth and better link it to the rest of Sydney.
The North West is the city’s major growth corridor and deserves to be serviced by a rail link – but it goes beyond providing a commuting option for local residents.
“It’s also important to understand the region is home to expanding business precincts that depend on workers being able to access the region.
“The Government has used the last six months to systematically work through the route and station options – and delivered an option that facilitates growth.
“There is still significant work to be done to deliver the project – but people across Sydney will have faith that the rail line is being smoothly advanced.”
The North West Rail Link was identified as Sydney’s number one public transport priority in research commissioned earlier this year by the Property Council.
