Darwin City Council is moving forward on the $7 million city revitalisation plans.

Community consultation on the concept plans for works in Knuckey Street, the Smith Street Mall, Raintree Park and Smith Street through to Peel Street has received genuine interest and support from from property owners, special interest groups and the broader community.

Areas of interest have included: shade structures, landscaping of Raintree Park, de-cluttering of the footpaths, street lighting and access to key facilities such as public phones, toilets and play spaces.

Civil works on the project will be rolled out in two packages. The first being Knuckey Street for which tenders have already closed. The second package will include works on Smith Street, the Smith Street Mall and Raintree Park.

Works in Knuckey Street are scheduled to commence in early November.
