Chatswood Chase Sydney wins gold at state's property awards

Chatswood Chase Sydney has today been named the 2012 New South Wales Development of the Year Award in the Property Council of Australia / Rider Levell Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.

The Innovation and Excellence Awards, showcasing Australia’s finest, celebrates innovation and leading practice within the property development and investment industries.

"Congratulations must go to Chatswood Chase Sydney for winning the state’s top property award after the success of its $192 million redevelopment," NSW Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia Glenn Byres said.

"The two year redevelopment achieved outstanding success rates, recording a 100 percent occupancy rate, moving annual turnover up by 17 percent and a 20 percent increase in customer traffic.

"The development, owned by Colonial First State Retail Property Trust and nominated by Colonial First State Global Asset Management, caters to Sydney’s prestigious north shore customer.

"After winning the state’s top property award, Chatswood Chase Sydney will vie for the coveted Australian Development of the Year Award, the ‘gold logie’ of the Australian property industry at the 2012 national awards."

The redevelopment included over 80 new shops, additional car parking and a complete overhaul of the shopping centre’s food offer by adding a 700 seat food court and fresh food precinct.

Director of Rider Levett Bucknall Sydney, Mr Bob Richardson, says all NSW finalists set a high standard for innovation and excellence in the Australian property industry.

"We are proud to be associated with an awards program that celebrates the achievements of Australian developments, measuring their success by way of innovation, operational efficiency, design and return on investment", Mr Richardson says.

National award winners will be announced at the 2012 Property Council of Australia Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards Gala Dinner, to be held in Sydney on Saturday, 26 May.
