The Property Council today welcomed the Premier's announcement that the Mitcham-Frankston project had now been awarded.
Executive Director of the Property Council Jennifer Cunich said the project was vital for south-east Melbourne.
"The Property Council has supported the need for this essential infrastructure link and its pleasing to see the project move forward" Ms Cunich said.
"This project will create investment opportunities, jobs and economic efficiencies. We also welcome the additional public transport initiatives and the flexibility built into the project to allow for future public transport investment."
Ms Cunich observed that better infrastructure and transport linkages would provide an incentive for more commercial, retail and residential development in the south east corridor.
"The project will benefit the manufacturing and industrial sector, providing jobs in a key growth area." Ms Cunich said.
