The event of the year: The Property Congress

More than 100 speakers and 1300 delegates from around the world gathered for the event, which included keynote addresses, expert panels, site tours and fantastic networking.

Events were held at Sydney Town Hall, the Hilton Hotel and Cockatoo Island.

Highlights of the The Property Congress include:

  • International political keynote: former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, kicked off The Property Congress, delivering the international political keynote: How to transform a city
  • International business keynote: US property icon Sam Zell delivered the international business keynote: The ultimate entrepreneur's guide to successful real estate and business investment
  • The Australian Property Hall of Fame: three industry icons – Frank Lowy AC, Dick Dusseldorp AO and Ray Powys AM – were named the inaugural inductees of the Australian Property Hall of Fame, at a ceremony held at The Property Congress Gala Dinner (www.propertyhalloffame.com.au)
  • Property Council ULI Alliance: the Property Council of Australia and the Urban Land Institute (ULI) have struck a strategic alliance, with Property Council National President Darren Steinberg and ULI South Asia Chairman Simon Treacy signing a memorandum of understanding at the event. The alliance will boost Australia’s access to international thinking on urban and real estate issues

The super trends: James O'Loghlin moderated a panel of leading thinkers discussing the resources, technology and people shaping business, culture and the economy.

Gala dinner Congress
Property's night of nights: Sydney Town Hall was transformed for The Property Congress Gala Dinner and the launch of the Australian Property Hall of Fame.

Ray Martin Congress Darren Steinberg and Frank Lowy Congress
Ray Martin was master of ceremonies for the Gala Dinner. Industry icon Frank Lowy AC was one of three inaugural inductees into the Australian Property Hall of Fame. He accepted the honour from Property Council National President Darren Steinberg.
