More than any other city, Canberra office tenants indicated they would reduce staff levels and were looking to relocate in the next three years, according to the Colliers International 2012 Office Tenant Survey.

Felice Spark, Colliers International research director, says Canberra office tenants were tightening their belts and the survey results were not surprising given the dominance of Government tenants in Canberra compared to other capital cities.

Tim Mutton, Colliers International ACT office leasing director, says Canberra tenants are also reducing workspace ratios more than any other city.

“With many Canberra tenants looking to relocate, reduce workplace ratios and redesign work environments, landlords have the opportunity see how they can meet the changing requirements of tenants keen to secure space through smart office fitout designs,” Mutton says.

Canberra tenants gave the highest average rating to building selection importance to attract and retain staff (7.8 out of 10).
