The WA Government has passed legislation allowing Sunday trading for the first time in the state, and is expected to announce a commencement date soon.
The WA Government has passed the Retail Trading Hours Amendment Bill which will allow retailers to operate between 11 am and 5 pm on Sundays throughout the Perth metropolitan area.
When the new laws come into effect, Adelaide will become Australia’s most restrictive capital city when it comes to trading hours. The majority of retailers in Adelaide are unable to operate on public holidays.
The new WA legislation will allow retailers to operate on public holidays, with the exception of Good Friday, Christmas day and Anzac day.
