Springfield Land Corporation has appointed advisers Rothschild to conduct a strategic review to fast-track development of Greater Springfield over the next 20 years.

SLC chairman Maha Sinnathamby says the time is right to plan the development's future.

“Rothschild has been engaged to look at a full range of options to ensure the vision of a world class city built with health, education and IT as its cornerstones is maintained whilst being fast tracked and enhanced over the next twenty years," he says.

Springfield is a satellite city developed over 28 sq km located within Ipswich, west of Brisbane.

“Brisbane’s population continues to swell and its Western Corridor is one of the fastest growing areas in the English speaking world,” Mr Sinnathamby says.

“We want to build on the momentum created over the past 20 years and develop the city to reach a population of 105,000 well before 2030.”

“Greater Springfield is in the geographical heart of South East Queensland. According to SEQ’s Regional Plan, by 2031 an extra 754,000 dwellings will be required in South East Queensland, as Queensland’s population is forecast to increase from 2.8 million to 4.4 million.”
